9/20/2017 0 Comments Project Progress ReportAs of now, we have completed our first Future Dragons Fair, and we are happy with the results! We didn't have as much as a turn out as we expected, but it's a start. The coaches and players contributed so much to this event and made the night fun for everyone! We will take away so much from this experience and we're only going to learn from here. I think that everyone was especially impressed with the girls soccer team. Coach Fannin went all out for the event by providing a candy bowl, stamps, flyers, and even a computer showing film of their games. When people would see their table, they would automatically be drawn to it, which is exactly what we want!
Mackenzi, Maya, and I are planning on continuing on with the fair to make it a tradition for all of the sports teams. We have agreed on ways to make the second event even bigger than it was the first time around. One of the important things for the next fair is to follow in Coach Fannin's footsteps and provide things that will catch peoples' attention. Also, rather than doing it on the night of a football game, we will hold it on a week night before the sports have even started. This will give teams the opportunity to provide flyers for upcoming clinics and even the entire schedule of their season. We are thinking that the Future Dragons Fair for the winter sports will be held in late October since the teams haven't officially started their season. We will advertise exactly as we did the first time by sending out flyers to the schools and posting them in local restaurants in New Palestine. We are very pleased with the outcome of the first event and we hope to only improve from here!

9/20/2017 0 Comments Pitch Day!Pitch day for our group wasn't as crucial for our group as it was for some of the others in our class. We already had the outline of our idea and pitch day just helped us get the idea out to our administration, as well as providing a professional-like experience. The preparation process was pretty easy for us since we had everything planned out and basically set in stone. In our presentation, we included a timeline for our project which definitely helped keep us organized. We also put the objectives in the presentation which gave the administration and peers more background as to why we chose this specific project.
When we proposed the Future Dragons Fair to the class, we had so much positive feedback and support. Everyone really liked the project and contributed ideas to make it even more of a success. One of the suggestions that especially helped was about advertising our project. They suggested saying something to all of the principals from the schools, the New Pal Reporter, and the high school newspaper. We followed through with that idea, which probably helped us get so much attendance at our event. Even though Pitch Day wasn't so critical for our group, this definitely shaped our project in a positive way and provide insight to just make it stand out! 9/18/2017 0 Comments Initial Project ThoughtsWhen brainstorming ideas to come up with an initial project for the class, Mackenzi, Maya and I considered many different things. We thought about helping out at the new local senior community, doing something with IPS schools, or somehow connecting our youth to our high schoolers in a more impactful way. We decided to start here at home by creating a project revolving around our fall sports teams. Not only was our objective to create a better connection between our youth and high schoolers, but we also thought this would give high schoolers a sense of responsibility, provide an insight to the kids wanting to play sports in high school, as well as advocate physical fitness in a fun and social atmosphere. The original idea was to have a pitch-in dinner featuring all of our fall sports programs that the students in middle and elementary school could attend and mingle with the coaches and athletes. This idea quickly morphed into the Future Dragons Fair, which would be a quick come and go experience for our youth. After many discussions with our mentors, Mr. Cooper and Mr. Wright, we set the date for September 15th from 6-7 in the main lobby of the high school.
