5/16/2018 0 Comments One Last TimeAbout nine months ago, I walked into Mr. Large's class with my mind reeling of the many possibilities I wanted to make reality. Today, I sit in his class with just two and a half days of my high school career left, and I can honestly say I'm so proud of all of my accomplishments in Advanced Business Management. I started the year off with the Future Dragons Sports Fair, and it was such a blast! Although this project wasn't as philanthropic as I wanted, I got the feeling of running an event and it was truly an eye-opening experience. The next project I picked up was the Dress Drive. I worked on this event for about five months and it was one of the best experiences of my life. After many failed attempts at somehow connecting with underprivileged kids within Indianapolis, Mr. Large presented this project to Mackenzi, Mia, Emma, and I. We worked so hard, and there was not a better feeling than seeing all of our progress come to life. in February. We raised over $6,000 for Riley Children's Hospital and Hope Center Indy! It's an opportunity I'll never forget, and I hope the students following in our footsteps enjoy it just as much as we did! The last and final project(s) I accomplished was a variety of pen pal programs. The first one Mia and I made was for seventh graders in Ganado, Arizona, and we wrote just a few letters back and forth. My sister-in-law is the teacher of the students, and she told me how much they loved getting letters from us, and that made me so happy! The other pen pal program we set up was through Ashley Malloy. Today, we are sending out good luck letters to students in Africa who are about to take their national exams. Altogether, this year has been incredible, and this class was a big part of making my senior year so important! I plan to apply everything I have learned from this class to my future.

4/30/2018 0 Comments Getting StartedWith only a few weeks of school remaining, there is not much we can do. Mia, Austin, Maya, and I have been racking or brains for potential project ideas. We thought about having a 5k run and a talent show, but there is not enough time. Finally, we found a project thanks to Mr. Large and his connections to Ashley Malloy, a former NPHS student who now serves as a nurse in Malawi, Africa. The last week or so, we have been in contact with Ashley discussing a small pen pal project with teachers and kids our age at the schools near her. She thinks that having us write to the students may help calm their nerves before their big exam that determine their future. As of now, we are waiting to get the details to set up the pen pals. We are excited to begin this project that will finish out our year!
